A Birthday and A Baby

We had a great time celebrating Abby's birthday.   These are the ADPi friends who were able to be there on Thursday night.  They were appreciative and we had fun "roasting" Abby with stories from her childhood.
Braden made an appearance, the girls oohed and aahed over him, then he had to leave to take a bath and go to bed.  He was already needing his thumb.

First cousins and good friends.  It is always good to see Jenna.

Derek was a good sport about being there with a bunch of girls and Abby's family.

We love the crazy picture.   Even though Paige is looking a little wild, she was drinking water all night long.

This weekend is Blake and Kyle's annual poker party.  Tamara had meetings in Tulsa, so Braden came with Dad.  He liked his new jumperoo.

He also liked his new bath seat.  I had to put more water in the tub than I had thought about needing.  Now I need to get some bath toys.  The chair makes for very discreet bath photos!

Happy Birthday

Happy 21st Birthday, Abby!  A little K-State fan is now a jr. at KSU.  Her dad and I will host the traditional "buy for an hour" at the establishment of her choice.  It is hard for me to believe my baby is 21!

First Car

I've been in a bit of a blog funk lately.  There doesn't seem to be too much going on, so I am going to do some flashbacks into the past. In honor of Kyle's birthday (Jan. 24) here is a picture of his first car.  It is a 1973 LeMans and it is the car he wishes he still had.  The interesting thing to me is the gold truck.  It was fairly new then and recently has been more inclined to blow dark smoke out the back with iffy brakes.  Anyway, the report I get is that this car was fast although I never personally rode in this car.  Also notice the CB antennae.   It was the thing to have at the time.

This is the first car I remember - the Monte Carlo.  We drove this after graduating from college too.  I really liked this car, and the hood seemed to go on forever.  Kyle is standing in front of the trailer we bought to move to Morganville to be our first home the hottest year of the century - 1980.

Snow Day

Kyle took off for Atlanta yesterday, which is having it's own snow issues, but he usually is the one who clears off the driveway.  I think we got about six inches of snow and he had left the four-wheeler with the blade on and instructions.  So Abby got it going and cleaned snow off the driveway.  I helped out here and there with my shovel, but it is just too much to shovel the whole thing.  Other than having a little trouble getting it out of reverse, it went pretty smoothly.
My project for this morning was to paint the wall underneath the cupboards in the kitchen.  Since I painted it the same color, it just needed one coat.  I was kind of anticipating the snow so I left this job for today.  It looks a lot better to me, but I suppose most people wouldn't really be able to tell the difference.  I also took the plates off the light switches and painted around them because they get dirty with hand prints.

I also gathered the receipts for 2010 to put upstairs.  I need one more larger manilla envelope, but I'm not going out today.  Abby took my vehicle to work at Presby. Manor and I don't want to drive her's around.

So for the rest of today, I will read, try to stay warm, and drink my new favorite.  Hot Vanilla Chai tea with a splash of milk.  I had never added milk to tea, but it suggested it on the tea box, so I thought I would give it a try.  Pretty tasty!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Blake, new year's baby of 1982 even though he was born in the 2nd.  Last year in the 20's!  He celebrated today by going to the Chiefs game with Kyle and some friends.  The picture is from his third birthday. You can see how excited he is.  It is always easy to find his birthday pictures since they are at the first of each year's books.  It was cold and snowy the day he was born.  Mae and John came into town in the pick-up so they could see him that day.  I can remember kids sledding on the hill outside the window at the hospital.   I think the wellness center/ new construction took that hill away.
