Snow Day

Kyle took off for Atlanta yesterday, which is having it's own snow issues, but he usually is the one who clears off the driveway.  I think we got about six inches of snow and he had left the four-wheeler with the blade on and instructions.  So Abby got it going and cleaned snow off the driveway.  I helped out here and there with my shovel, but it is just too much to shovel the whole thing.  Other than having a little trouble getting it out of reverse, it went pretty smoothly.
My project for this morning was to paint the wall underneath the cupboards in the kitchen.  Since I painted it the same color, it just needed one coat.  I was kind of anticipating the snow so I left this job for today.  It looks a lot better to me, but I suppose most people wouldn't really be able to tell the difference.  I also took the plates off the light switches and painted around them because they get dirty with hand prints.

I also gathered the receipts for 2010 to put upstairs.  I need one more larger manilla envelope, but I'm not going out today.  Abby took my vehicle to work at Presby. Manor and I don't want to drive her's around.

So for the rest of today, I will read, try to stay warm, and drink my new favorite.  Hot Vanilla Chai tea with a splash of milk.  I had never added milk to tea, but it suggested it on the tea box, so I thought I would give it a try.  Pretty tasty!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Blake, new year's baby of 1982 even though he was born in the 2nd.  Last year in the 20's!  He celebrated today by going to the Chiefs game with Kyle and some friends.  The picture is from his third birthday. You can see how excited he is.  It is always easy to find his birthday pictures since they are at the first of each year's books.  It was cold and snowy the day he was born.  Mae and John came into town in the pick-up so they could see him that day.  I can remember kids sledding on the hill outside the window at the hospital.   I think the wellness center/ new construction took that hill away.

Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas 2010.  Our big news this year was the birth of Braden.  We will add another grandchild in next year's card, so things are changing!  And we will also have a boyfriend here for our family Chrismas.  When you have kids and they are little, you don't think about the multiplying effect 25-30 years later.

We are having our kid's Christmas here tonight.  The request is jambalya, with a portion without shrimp for Blake since he blows up like a balloon when he eats shell fish. Then we will go to my parent's in Pratt for Christmas Eve, and then the kids can go to the other sides of the families to celebrate Christmas.  Kyle's sister, Lori, will stay in Colorado this year, so we will have a quiet Christmas day.

Enjoy the holidays!

2006-2009

Surprised?   Another KSU picture.  And Tamara's first appearance in the Christmas picture.
Blake and Tamara's wedding.  Made for an easy choice this year.

The second wedding in two years.  This time Russ and Paige.
Just a fun picture taken at KSU after my folks were awarded as family of the year.  The small picture of Kyle and I was from our Alaska trip.

Check back in a day or two for this year's card.

Commercial Brought to you by Braden

Hello people!  This break in the parade of Christmas pictures is brought to you by me, Braden Bauer.  I visited Grandma and Grandpa's church and saw some people who gushed over me.  Then I played with my Sesame Street toy, watched a little football, and took a good nap.   And that makes me . . . .
Very Happy.

2002-2005

Thanksgiving in NYC.  It was cold, but a fun trip.
Another church directory picture.

KSU again.  An easy theme for our family and we were together for ballgames in the fall.

2005 - our first year in Clay Center.

1998-2001

I like this spur of the moment picture in the front yard.
A professsional photo taken at Pratt when my folks did a grandkids picture.

This was taken by Le at Marysville.  It is my favorite family picture with just the five of us.
On the beach at Santa Barbara.  The girl on the far right is Connie, our Rotary exchange student.   Flying into LAX was an experience just two months from 9-11.  We had a good Thanksgiving with Kyle's aunts and family in Santa Barbara.  We also saw Kevin Koehler at Pepperdine in Malibu and went to Disneyland during that vacation.  Connie really wanted to tour the studios in LA, but they were all closed because of 9-11.
